Revolutionizing Patient Care: A Live Q&A with Dr. Joe Alexander

On June 24, we hosted our first Live Q&A. Inspired by our short film, Upgrade Reality, Medical and Health Informatics (MEI) Lab Distinguished Scientist, Dr. Joe Alexander, and our VP of Global Marketing, Chris Shaw, sat down with each other (virtually) to discuss our bio digital twin research, including how and why we expect this research to revolutionize patient care in the years to come.

We were joined by an audience of students studying science, medicine and technology at some of the top academic institutions in the world, including MIT, UCLA, Stanford, Cornell University and Caltech, just to name a few. In addition to learning all about bio digital twin research from one of biomedical engineering’s leading experts, viewers also got to hear about Dr. Alexander’s professional and academic background – specifically, how his studies, life experiences and interests have helped him grow to become a distinguished scientist at one of Palo Alto’s newest research facilities. He also provided insight into what it’s like to work at NTT Research and what it’s like collaborating with some of the greatest scientific minds in the world.

Of course, a Q&A is not much without questions and answers. Dr. Alexander happily took in the audience’s questions, delving deeper into the specifics of his bio digital twin research. He spoke to the ways NTT Research is approaching bio digital twin research perhaps differently than other labs and plans for the first uses of bio digital twin technology to study patients’ cardiovascular systems.

As most of us continue to work from home and find new sources of entertainment andeducation, NTT Research is proud to offer a way for students to learn more about our mission to Upgrade Reality. Some of our Q&A viewers could very well join our group of world-renowned researchers someday.

If you missed out on this Q&A, not to worry – you can view the full conversation in the YouTube video below. And be sure to follow us on Twitter and LinkedIn to learn when we will host our next Q&A.
