Basic research is systematic study directed toward greater knowledge or understanding of fundamental aspects of phenomena and observable facts, performed without specific applications, processes or products in mind. In other words, it is the research that most needs doing not for money but for the greater good. At NTT Research, we undertake long-term efforts in pursuit of long-term visions. The results further our futures and the whole of humankind.
