NTT Information Network Laboratory Group

NTT is engaged in research and development on network infrastructure to support communication and environmental energy requirements that will be required in the information society of the future. Efforts are focused on improving quality and reliability, flexibility and serviceability, as well as sustainability.

This includes full-scale Innovative Optical & Wireless Network (IOWN) technology, such as optical path processing functions and controllers to support end-to-end optical full-mesh networks.

In wireless communications, the lab is working on elemental technologies to extend coverage to unexplored areas to meet user needs and achieve rapid service delivery. In terms of sustainability, the lab is working to reduce the environmental impact of society to close to net zero.
The Information Network Laboratory Group consists of three sub-labs:
NTT Network Service Systems Laboratories
Researching optical network technologies focused on high-speed, high-capacity communication and vast computing resources, with the goal of making the Innovative Optical and Wireless Network (IOWN) concept a reality.
NTT Access Network Service Systems Laboratories
Research focused on access networks, including optical services, post-5G wireless systems, smart operation and maintenance of equipment, and improving operational technology using AI/IoT.
NTT Space Environment and Energy Laboratories

Working to create next-generation energy technologies such as nuclear fusion and space-based solar power that enable resilient environmental adaptation and, ultimately, zero environmental impact.
