One of our core tasks at NTT Research is to look ahead. Based on a number of trends, especially some that our colleagues at NTT have underscored, there appears to be an exciting world taking shape involving increasingly smart applications that could potentially transform many sectors of the economy. To enable these use cases, however, our networking technologies will need to be able to exchange data, scale up computing and consume energy much more efficiently than they do today.
