Upgrading Networking Reality

One of our core tasks at NTT Research is to look ahead. Based on a number of trends, especially some that our colleagues at NTT have underscored, there appears to be an exciting world taking shape involving increasingly smart applications that could potentially transform many sectors of the economy. To enable these use cases, however, our networking technologies will need to be able to exchange data, scale up computing and consume energy much more efficiently than they do today. In his latest article in Forbes, our CEO, Kazuhiro Gomi, surveys those challenges and indicates how the Innovative Optical and Wireless Network (IOWN), an initiative launched by NTT, Intel and Sony, might be able to lead us through these paradigm shifts.
